I am wondering why this relative calmness in the arab world despite total destruction of Lebanon. Some may attribute it to the so-called "New Middle East map." But I doubt another theory.

With oil price rises from barely $10 to more than $70 a barrel in the past few years, income of Gulf Arab countries has increased very much. But the petro-dollar goes directly into the national treasury which is essentially the property of kings. People in the world are not happy with this kind of monopoly.

So the United States drew up a plan: Let Israel destruct Lebanon totally including Christian areas. Demand (job) of reconstruction of Lebanon emerges. Total value is astronomical. International committee of reconstruction of Lebanon will be convened with the US as its chairman. The US will distribute the jobs among the participants, but US (plus maybe Arab Gulf) construction companies will be the main beneficiaries.

And who will pay for all of these? Arab Gulf countries, with Saudi Arabia as the single biggest doner. Thus you will get your portion of petro-dollar, though at the expense of Lebanon.

Remember the plane crash accident in which the US Secretary of Commerce and business leaders of prominent US companies died in the Yugoslavian airspace.

may i ask how you came up with such a theory?
i am interested in knowing what leads you to make these assumptions, and not other ones...
